I believe they fit on using self-tapping screws, but are generally the right size & shape to fit the car.

The Coupe's front splitter should also fit on to the saloons & estates; I can't remember who it was on these forums that was looking at that as an option though.

Mine's completely broken so I must get a new one sooner or later, or I could just remove it.
Original parts or ebay parts are really expensive for a piece of plastic, gotta see if I can find a scrapyard with one.

Sorry boys, having a busy day today....

Yup it is indeed the bit of old renault that's gone missing....

Before pic as requested (yay, I got to use that photo again!!! )
Image

Bit of a strange one really, I can't imagine anyone's come along in the night and nicked it, but I reversed into the drive last night (very unusually) so the front of the car was pointing out into the street, then I spent a bit of time out in the street just after I got home (cos an old bloke visiting a neighbour decided to wrap his focus around a tree opposite my house   - but that's another story) so I'd be amazed if it was gone at that time and I didn't notice :? .

I did scrape it twice yesterday, but on both occasions I visually checked that it was still there next time I got out, besides if I'd ripped it right off (then driven over it) surely I'd have noticed!!?? :? Plus I'd have probably got a puncture from all the self tappers sticking out of it.

Never mind eh? I'll put the old bit of rubber back on it now, I still have it in the garage. Been thinking of taking the splitter off anyway 'cos the roads around here are so bad that I've been scraping it daily.

they screw under the bumper with self tap screws
BUT

the fittment at the sides is rubbish (hence why i removed mine) look at photos of other 406s you will see at the sides what i mean and i dont like it cos its not perfect with the bumpers curve so mine went on ebay

It's not so bad Gary, I've seen a couple that seem to fit better than others... :?

Anyway, I'm home from work and have found some of the screws on my drive, so I've got to assume someone came in last night and took it off - unbefekinglievable!!

There were probably about a dozen self tappers altogether, plus 2 fixings at either end where the bumper and wheelarch liner attach, I'd removed the screws from those, drlled through the splitter and refitted the original screws through it, it was 2 of those that I found on the drive, with just a couple of the self tappers, guess the rest of the self tappers are still stuck in the spoiler. It's had such a bashing recently that some of the self tappers were probably pulled out of the bumper anyway, but the rear edge of the splitter sits in the channel that the original rubber bit once occupied, so as long as it doesn't move forward (which it couldn't with those big screws fitted through it) it won't drop.

Got to make sure the corners and arch liners are secure, then I'll chuck the rubber bit back in it and forget about it, as I said I was thinking of taking it off anyway  . That particular splitter's got some identifying features after years of scraping by me, I'll know it if I see it  Gonna make sure everything's locked up tight before I go to bed tonight though!!

Stolen splitter? :o

They must be desperate, or stupid (probably both tbh) they're not exactly expensive to get are they?

I hate stuff like this because they've been scurrying about on your drive, it's only a thin line between that and burglary - bastards :frown:

You might want to review your 'external lighting solutions' or some other preventative measure to deter wanderers.
