D8 vs D9 Headlgihts?

Post by Bailes1992 »

The headlights in my D8 were to be honest, awesome! Nothing special, just good bulbs.
Now my Focus has the same bulbs (Phillips extream vision) and the highlights are poor to say the least.

Now I'm wondering how D9 headlights compare to D8's?

My D9's lights are a huge improvement over the old Xantia, and far better than most vehicles of the same age, however the 407 is better again with the projectors, even the non-hid version.

The headlights in my D9 saloon were FAR superior to the lights in the Coupe. I used normal bulbs in the saloon, too.

It's only since I put Osram NightBreaker Plus bulbs in the Coupe that the headlights have become similarly bright.

I would have liked to put HID lights in the Coupe, but VOSA are talking about outlawing after-market kits, so I'd prefer not to waste my cash on a kit that would fail the MOT.

I wouldn't be - I know headlights aren't meant to be stupidly bright either. Being dazzled is no fun :(

I know mate
Just some people fit sensible HiD's and some people go for stupidly bright
Personally, as yourself, I wouldn't fit them until VOSA clarifies it's position on them

there is a VW polo driving round my area. and he is a pain in the back side. the car is bright red.

his bloody lights are clearly deep deep purple. he has gone 1 step past blue and used purple

the bloody things dont half dazzle you when he drives past .

ive looked at the colour chart and they seem to be around 12k

Retro fit HIDs are illegal here,

i think it might come to that all over europe soon,

there is talk of you being able to retro fit here if the car has self levelling headlights and the model offered it as a standard option, its one of the few things they have right when it comes to cars :)

i dont really care though my new one has turny hids and everyfink

i hate all hids they just cause glare.
especially bmw lights they are the worst sort for causing oncoming glare x5s are especially bad because they are so high up.

But the d9 headlights they are very good.

I never thought the D9 headlamps were anything special. Even with good Philips bulbs they weren't as good as my old 405 with Poverty Spec bulbs.

I'm starting to wonder if with all these clear lenses and what not were going backwards in light output?
My D8 was better than my Dads Volvo which has Xenons?

Maybe a lot of it comes down to how scratched the headlamps are themselves
