Re: removing the headunit
As for removing the head unit, you need a pair of knitting needles or barbeque skewers - anything thin enough and long enough to go into the two little holes on the front of the head unit itself. Push them into the holes until you hear a clunk. You should then be able to pull the head unit out from the console.

Re: removing the headunit
I used a couple of terminal drivers to get mine out, long thin screw drivers poked down the holes then a bit of a waggle about and out it popped.

Re: removing the headunit
A couple of allen keys worked for me
Judging by this thread, I don't think the proper tools are necessary

Re: removing the headunit
Nope the standard tools are not needed realy
altho its quite easy to make the puggy factory fitted radios into Flip fronts
Be careful when your pulling them out with big screwdrivers /or a crow bar

Re: removing the headunit
Would my 97 GLX be the same, ie if I did disconnect the battery it won't need a code putting back in? I saw no mention of any codes in the paperwork when I bought the car.

My next 406 is having its stereo removed with a big hammer to save time...

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
