Your Favorite Driving Music!

Post by ToddM »

Hello again guys! No, don't stare at the avatar, seriously.
I did my best searching through the forums and found a couple of topic where several different styles of music were discussed. However, I didn't manage to find any such topic about your favorite driving music. I'll kick it off!
I may be a young chap but I appreciate the good things in life - I listen to a lot of different styles of music and while I have no particular favorite rock/heavy etc. always gets me in a good driving mood. And no, I don't particularly like most new bands even though there are some catchy songs. What we have to do is share the song name and artist and explain why we enjoy it. Any extra info would help as well, possibly even a YT linky. Here's a few of my own favorites:

Billy Idol - Rebel Yell
Why? Because it's really catchy, sticks to my head and makes me quite right foot heavy. I quite enjoy it when it pops up during a night cruise somewhere, livens things up if you know what I mean

AC/DC - Thunderstruck
It has a beautiful intro, it has a rock solid sound which makes me feel about as badass as Arnie in his Terminator 1 days. It also doubles as my ringtone.. and overtaking is such a joy if it matches the moment before the chorus where everything goes quiet and then Mr. Brian Johnson shouts out "YOU'VE BEEN.... THUNDERSTRUCK"

AC/DC - Highway To Hell
Reasons should be pretty obvious.. I have a thing for AC/DC's style. Their music makes me feel extremely good and, well Highway to Hell is no exception. The second verse is just beautiful!

Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell
It is Meat Loaf, I know what you're thinking. But I have to say, as fat as he is he has a couple of great songs and I think this is his best one!

I sure hope you get Smooth Radio where you live/work, Puggy! It'd match you perfectly 90% of the time. Come to think of it I never really thought of relaxing music. A couple of great tracks there, mate!

Currently Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, I had to nip in and buy a CD from the local Empik(like HMV) when i got the puggy just to test the cd player and this just jumped out at me as it was sunny outside, its from 1986-1991 and reminds me of my teenage years, ok late teen years.
click only if its sunny near you

No YouTube links cos I'm at work at the moment and it's blocked here :( I'll maybe edit this post when I get home, put some links on.

Frost - "Black Light Machine" or "Hyperventilate" - well, sod it, anything off the "Milliontown" album, really, it's all genius

Dream Theater - "Pull Me Under", "Lines in the Sand", or "Rite of Passage"

Rush - "Red Barchetta"

Spock's Beard - "All on a Sunday", "Shining Star", or "East of Eden, West of Memphis"

There are many, many more tracks I love listening to whilst driving.
2002 (D9) Peugeot 406 Coupe SE, 2.2 litre Petrol. Scarlet Red/Rouge Ecarlate/Rosso Scarlatto. Black Leather interior. SOLD :(
2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

My dad would definitely agree with you. Especially about some of the songs they've done with Stevie Nicks!
For example Dreams:

It is until someone starts classifying Rap as music

Or Rebecca Black / Justin Bieber.

Agreed, sir! Agreed! It's actually quite weird this.. we not only seem to have similar tastes in cars, we also have similar tastes in music.

60's/70's/80's/90's Rock, particularly the NWOBHM era.

As long as its got screaming guitars, and a vocalist with a decent set of lungs, I'm happy :cheesy:
