Grrr... not starting

Grrr... not starting
Hello folks,
This morning had a few words with my 406 Fawlty Towers style when it refused to start (2.1L TD). It was turning the engine over OK, but just wouldn't fire up! After leaving it for a a minute or so and trying again it started OK. The same happened at lunch time! Chug chug chug chug chug..... but no spark. Leaving it for a minute and trying again sparked it into life.
Any ideas what it could be? I am pointing the finger at glow plugs, which were replaced at around 60k (it's now 109k). Once started, it runs fine.
Any advice appreciated.

109k... It's really weird too. If it doesn't start within, say, 3 turnovers, then it definitely won't start. Have to switch it off and try it again. But when it does start, it's within 2 turns. Been doing it all day...supafrisk wrote: How many miles has yours done again?
Another thing it did today is fire up and then die straight away.... very annoying!!!!

Er, Supa it's a 2.1 Diesel
Someone else had this ages ago, have you done a search? I can't remember the outcome though, it does not realy sound like glow plugs, more a case of lack of fuel.
There is a way to bleed the pump on yours, that's what it sound like to me.

I don't have a keypad so it must the transponder chip in the key. I am still trying to work out what the pattern may be to get it going (I did take the key out yesterday and put it back in before it started). But as I said, it was fine this morning, which was very wet and cold so I am still at a loss...
I certainly hope it's not the fuel pump!! Those things are expensive

The key doo-dad is a good explanation.
Beware though cos them keys is well pricey.
Fecking immobilisers, I wish they hadn't got one because they allways play up in the end and let you down.
Imagine travelling across Europe and your immobiliser craps out in a little dusty village, be a bloody nightmare to sort out.

Welp, thought I'd do a little update. The problem again happened during my travels in Sweden. Had to take to key out and back in before it would fire up. So I am guessing it probably is something to do with the immoboliser. But since the problem is so rare, I won't bother with it until a million other issues get sorted.
