Oil Level and Oil Temperature gauges on dash

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Oil Level and Oil Temperature gauges on dash

Post by exec406 »

Hi

I have a D9 406 2.2 HDi Exec 2003. The starter motor on this went on the blink and I have just got a new Bosch unit fitted.

Strange thing is now since this was fitted the oil temperature gauge on the left of the dash is not moving and the oil level indicator next to the odometer is flashing as if there's no oil when I turn the ignition.

When I check the dipstick the oil level is full to max.

Could this be some kind of electrical plug knocked out accidentally when the garage was changing the starter motor? These gauges were working fine before the starter was changed.

Thanks

Sounds very much like it - take it back & complain.

If you don't get it sorted, let us know & I'll find what to look for.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Took the car back to the garage and they fixed it no probs. It was indeed a loose connection on a plug.

This plug sends the data for both the oil level indicator and the oil temp gauge.
