Hi & welcome to the forum. 8)

Once the light is on, you need to operate the cruise control stalk, (below the indicators).

I think up = inc speed / set; down = dec speed / set and back = cancel. (sorry about being vague, yours is a 99 - 2001 car & I've only ever driven one with cruise, for a test drive, 3 years ago & can't really remember). :oops:

It makes it easier to help if you include the year, model, engine type in your signature.....

I think that means it has to be a 2.0 HDi 110, (they didn't put the 90 bhp engine in the exec and the earliest 2.2's are, (I think), Y reg. [/geek]

Doggy is right, even though it sometimes acts funny.
also up = restore previous speed
you have to keep the lever down until you get the desired speed ifyou want to lower c.c. speed, clicking only once does nothing.
Pushing up once, on the contrary, sets the speed higher by about 4-5km/h, the car will then accelerate until it gets to that speed.

The press button near the OBD port, near your right knee, must be pressed. If it isn't there's something wrong with your car, sorry. You'd need some kind of PP2000 (Peugeot fault code reader) to find out more.

Yes, you've bought a French one. They are all temperamental. Just like the French.

There aren't many 'bits' - for cruise to work on a HDi you need the following:

Cruise master switch on.
BOTH brake pedal switches off (and when they have operated, it must have been in the correct order)
Clutch switch off
Speed >= 30 mph
Gear = 4th or 5th
prod the right bit(s) of the CC stalk
Any issues with vehicle speed or engine speed measurement will probably stop it working
- or it could be disabled in the BSI
(Hence the earlier suggestion to check it out with PP2000).

Whereabouts are you BTW?

Dealer diagnostic system - chinese clones available on eBay - search for Lexia 3 - about £110

all will then be revealed, (at a price).

Don't know of anyone in your area with one, (but I may be wrong).

I fitted cruise to my 99 hdi about 3 yrs ago and im 99.9% sure that you have the same problem i have often with mine and many others have.
Its the clutch pedal switch adjustment (check brake one too) the switch fits in a hole and is held in place by shitty thin plastic fins and it slips.
1st try lifting the clutch pedal hard with your foot when driving above 20mph,in 4th or 5th gear and then engage cruise it will prob work!!
anyway check the switch adjustment.with the pedal depressed the switch contact should be closed and should open (dissengaging cruise) with the slightest pressure on the pedal.if the switch is open even with the clutch pedal untouched the ecu thinks your dipping the clutch and switches cruise off.same as brake pedal..
to adjust just slide the switch up or down in the hole it mounts in, ive wrapped mine with ptfe tape and it works well.
im half asleep here, hope this makes sense, if not pm me
Get it working cos its ace!! and really does save fuel ,i used to average 43mpg now it 50 +
the ecu controls the fuel much better than yer foot, and you knee and ankle aches on long journeys are a thing of the past!

That will prob be the speed sensor on the gearbox, i had the same prob with mine a couple of years bck, didnt effect cruise tho.
