405turbo diesel.. front mount intercooler

Post by Bigcol »

Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone has done a FMIC on there 405 diesel. The placement of the original IC seems shite to be honest, and i just found a new IC in my shed! Result!! The core size is 600x200x100mm thick Bar and plate construction with 57mm pipe work too! And ive had it pressure tested to 80Psi by the kind chaps at work (work in a tech college) 8) . I think it'll fit easy enough, and may not need to take the bumper off either. I was also thinking about getting another air filter box from another car to increase flow, and wind the pump up a bit, and adjust the actuator to give more boost. I dont want to go too mad.. just want to make the car more "drivable"!!
Any thoughts??

Had a 405 Turbo-D myself (below), best car I ever had, wish I'd never sold it!

With regards to the FMIC, It will allow you to safely put the boost up and make the car a good bit quicker. Never really touched mine 2bh, I just increased the fueling a little. If your looking for ideas as to how to route the pipes etc. I'd suggest http://www.tdocuk.com, great source of info on d-turbo tuning, a few guys on there have fitted FMIC's to various XUD's, 306's, Xsara's etc. Should help :D

No need to FMIC the 405, the top mount is fine, it's ducted in the bonnet lining so it gets a good feed of air.

Fit a boost gauge, couple of turns on the wastegate arm, 1/4 turn on the max fuel screw, wind out the boost limiter on top of the pump.

Whoosh.
