well ive bought the panasonic lumix fs35. 8x optical zoom, 4x digital zoom, 10x intelligent zoom .

just took a few pics zoomed to bottom of my street and i have to say im impressed with it.

its got HD 720p movie capture so any videos i make will be 720p quality .

just looking for a new sandisk SDHC HD movie card now. a 8gb is coming in at £20

Photography is a major interest of mine. At the moment i'm running a cannon EOS100D with a Sigma 18-200mm optical stabalised lens with a 72 mm object lens. This lens gets over most of the lens changing, as it has enough range of zoom for most eventualities. The down side being the cost, about £750 for the lens and camera. The other down side is the weight, but boy, does it take some good pictures. Don't get to hodwinked by how many mega pixels its got. The quality of the optics or lens is much more important. Camera makers like to sell them by the mega pixels cause uprating them is much cheaper than putting a better lens on.
That Panasonic looks really good. Like most things it comes down to the amount you can or want to spend.

I have used a company called my memory, they seem good and cheap. Try googling cheap sdhc cards, the best buys are not normally on ebay, in my experience.

Which is a perfect example of what is so good about any of the big makes of slr cameras, lots of extra stuff you can buy at sensible prices to upgrade or change what you can do with it.
Having used several makes of lens, I would rate Sigma or Tamron very highly. But I do find that 200mm of zoom is as much as i can hold with no tri or mono pod. Even with os, which is very good, but you may have a steadier hand than me. Playing with the cannon version of the 18-200 lens, it struck me you were paying for the name. The professional stuff (grey colour) is another story though. But they cost more than a decent second hand car, so I shall dream on.

Strangely enough I've been thinking of getting that lens to make my DSLR a bit more versatile, the cheapest I can find it is about £370. I've currently got an EF-S 18-55, an EF 28-80 and an EF 75-300, all Canon, and as I said earlier I can't really be bothered lugging all the kit around on hols so mostly use the compact. I've always been a bit wary of the other makes but if they do a direct equivalent of the EF-S 18-200 with IS I'd certainly be interested to check the prices out.
