Wiper probs

Post by ronnyp »

I have a 1999 406 2.0 Executive and the wipers are driving me mad whenever I put wipers on no matter if its med speed, fast speed or what they wipe for a few seconds then suddenly stop in any position it takes me ages turning on and off until they park at the bottom, also don't know if its connected but when you press down on wiper switch you are supposed to get one sweep but mine goes for 9 sweeps the same as in all other positions then just parks anywhere. I have tried another wiper motor and that does exactly the same, also rear wiper does not work. With all this rain it is driving me mad

does any-0ne know if this problem will affect MOT, also if any-one out there can fix it for me I don't mind paying a reasonable price as I am a disabled pensioner and can't afford dealer prices, surely there is some-one out there who can help.

no
its under the dash, under the fuse box you remove a small bit of trim [just pull] then you will see the relays and its a black one, just but your wipers on and pull it out if the wipers stop you have the right one.

Had a look for relays, found 2 black ones at the right of fuses tried each one but didn't make any difference, but while I was on my back with my torch I had a look at fuses found a gap and I had a spare 25amp fuse put that in and guess what wipers run as normal, don't know why it was missing maybe previous owner took it out for some reason. The only thing now is to get the rear wiper to work.At least I can go out in the rain now ha ha

For MOT test, wipers must park in normal place. ie Not obscuring drivers view
