Post by Gary406 »

why does my car feel very guttless when aircon is on.

you can actually feel the car splutter like made driving at a steady 30mph when it kicks in. :? :? :?

your compressor is sapping power from the mighty 1.9, is hot enough over there to need aircon now?

When i turn my aircon on at tickover rpm rises by just about 200 revs
and makes no difference whatsoever to pulling power , i think at such
a low difference in rpm it doesn't affect the mpg too much either so on
all the time "Chill Winstaaan " :P
.. ooh are those drugs for me Matron

That's cos they programmed it to....
and makes no difference whatsoever to pulling power
Doesn't make you cool then, puggy? Oh well, never mind.

Remember hiring a mk5 extort in Spain a few years back, managed to nurse it 3/4 of the way past a truck on an uphill section of motorway, when the a/c compressor cut back in,thus reversing said frod's stately progress relative to Pablo's vehiculo longo, which then steadily outpaced the sweating Dagenham upstart.....

I can confirm that I don't notice any effect from turning on the a/c and can't see any difference in consumption.

Jokes apart Gaz, if it has that much effect on your car somethig's probably not right. (An XUD has at least 2x the torque of yon escort).

2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)

i had the air con on today it never sapped any power, its making a noise but still making the inside cool and no detrimental effect on power.
