Just been playing around & looking for a 4x4 Sapphire Cosworth  .A standard 1990 4x4 Cosworth,5000 miles a year, £250 excess,12 yrs ncb protected as my current policy,the Cossie is £60 CHEAPER than my 406!!!!!Same car but with 300 bhp(chip,exhaust air filter,brakes etc)is £40 a year more than my 406 8) .

This is getting to the stage where i'm begining to think of something else for the next busmobile, due to the insurance. I'll be playing with quote web sites to see what big estates are cheap to insure.

it all goes off Risk assesment,
Eg claims, the 406 is very easy to squash at the rear end :|
and the fact theyre more popular as the Taxi rather than a Family car doesnt help

With a bit more playing i`ve got the cossie down to £376 a year.It makes no difference if its a 1988 2wd or 1990 4x4.
Now for the other end of insurance. We sold my wifes 1998 S reg Nissan Micra 1.3 sri 3 door last night. Its been brought for a 19 yr old lad as his first car.£2000 a year to insure it

I'm paying around £300 / yr for mine - don't think you'll find any big estates for significantly less.
