Trapped Water

Post by xplosiv »

I have noticed a trapped water sound when I brake or accelerate, I have only noticed this after all the rain we have had today, anybody have any ideas where it may be trapped and how I get rid of it? (Seams to come from the passenger side)

Many Thanks,

Andy

This has come up here before, try a search.

The water ends up inside the sill box section I think, and can come from the roof ariel, try a search around for the remedy (cos I can't remember).

Here, I'll do it for you

There might be others.

I would be careful messing with the ariel, I daren't touch mine, I have no leaks so don't want to upset it.

It looks a bit of a pig to work on to me.

Hi,

I don’t think it is the aerial, as the water sound comes from the floor. The Cabin is bone dry no wet carpets etc.

I find if I mount the front end of the car on a curb/inline all the water comes out, any ideas where it is getting stuck?

Nb: regarding the incline (which is strange) when I park the car on the drive (which runs down hill) the water does not come out it is only when the front is lifted slightly (up hill)

Many Thanks,

Andy

Where is the box section?

Engine undertrays can trap/hold a lot of water.

ok then if you mount the car etc and the water comes out, where do you see it coming from ?? do you think it is in the underside of the car or in the roof area and running down the roof supports etc ?

If mounting a kerb causes the water to come out, so will jacking up the relevant corner... Which'll let you have your head underneath to see

you'd do better to jack up the car with a jack, rather than your head! :cheesy:

Well you just wedge your head under nice and tight, and let the blood accumulate. The swelling will lift the car just fine. If you've got a good enough hangover (like one of my weekend morning ones) you won't even feel any extra pain :)

HI,

The car is not leaking through the aerial, waster is getting trapped in the passanger sill (the strip at the bottom of the car), i parked the car backwards down the drive and the water seems to be slowly dripping out.

I assume the dranage holes are blocked, if so where are they and how do i un-block them?

Many Thanks

Andy
