Pulley crankshaft wrecked ? now with fixed one & working

Hi, for a week i'hav been having this problem, the motor does more noise, it shakes a lot more, and when i accelerate ( by pulling down the speed actuator ) it does a weird noise in the alternator compartment.

Went into the garage and he said it is the pulley crankshaft ( sorry if i'm saying it wrong, it's a bit technical this words, which i'm not good at lol ).

How can this be damaged ? Or it was already damaged, but with the time passing on, it was getting worst ?

He said with an third party piece it would be a no go because it will broken in 6 months or so , with the original is the way to go, but it is not cheap i suppose, and he said he can put one from a TD car, which the pulley is only one piece, because this new ones is one piece joined in another ( lets say 1 ring inside of another ).

The HDi crank pulley is made of two halves with rubber in between just like the dual-mass flywheel, and, like the DMF, will eventually fail. The worse case scenario is for it to fail entirely, in which case it can throw off the belt, this can get inside the timing belt cover and wreck this too :!: I gather the later part is more reliable, I don't know about fitting a solid pulley though - I know it's been done but I don't know if it's a good idea or not :oops: Anyone?

Thank you for your quick reply, so this noises and shaking is because of that then. the car has only 144k, was time to broke ? Or it should have last longer ?

Well he said he did it with a 1.6 206 and was working fine.

As steve says , they do fail but can be replaced with a solid one though
you will loose the damping effect or you can replace it with a non genuine
one that will be lot cheaper than a genuine one .

That effect is really necessary ? the genuine part will damp what ? when we turn off the motor or when is turned on, it's damping ?

apparently the pulley was not the problem, there is still the noise and shaking..

it is louder when we get closer to the passengers wheel ( Left hand drive )..

Any thoughts ?

Possible dual mass flywheel problem.

Clutch thrust bearing , clutch itself , DMF , gearbox mount , gearbox ???

yes, when i can i'll take a short vid, hope it records the sound good and video too, so you can give a better look.

thank you, by the way the clutch is really in a not so healthy state, but let's just say it can't be from it, because the clutch is working like it was 1 year ago ( which was already in this state, some times it slips )

I went into the garage and he said it was the crankshaft pulley again... today was schedule to go there and change to another one, this one was from the scrapy from an 1.4 hdi engine which i belive was already with many miles on it ..

What do you think ?

Glad you posted that vid as I have the same noise !! At least I now know what it is, just need to know best way to solve it ! :D

i would say it is the pulley , try and look at it see if there is any
brown dust on it which usually means it has gone . Think you need
to fit a new one does not have to be a genuine one just new .

Well, the problem was still the pulley, the one that came from the scrapy wrecked in one day, the mechanic found a fixed one in the scrapy and it is working great !!! :D

This modern pulley are sh*t ...i can't even notice any real difference with this fixed pulley

Glad to hear its sorted , you wont notice any difference between a solid pulley
or a damped one , the idea of the pulley being damped is to help the engine
to run a little smoother and keep vibration down but the effect is so small
as not to be felt by driver .
