It was the early Celicas that were RWD. Supras too. Mk1 looks like a Mustang but v rare.

Nice cars Celicas, fancied one myself but its hard to get one locally that hasnt been ruined by some mouthbreather that has watched too many Fast and Furious films and thought "ME WANT".

GTV was a '4 seater' but was really a 2 seater with 2 child seats to put your lunch bag
Accord is a proper 4 seater but its huge.

Awaiting pics! :)
yes mate your spot on there the Frogeyes are fwd,
ive got a 1.8 so basicly its just a corola or avensis lump it does well tho plenty of power and its cheap to run strangely im getting more mpg round town out of this than igot in the 406 hdi,

ipicked the celica up for £280 bargain!
11mths mot 3mths tax and its one owner from new, strangely there another coupe thats basicly worth less.
The last celica ihad was a Supra id love another one of thems

Higher insurance group than my 406 though.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Perfect colour, perfect trim, perfect engine although I would prefer a saloon...
Defo going to have to go for one of these next, insurance is £400 a year cheaper for the 90 over the 110.
Add cruise control, get the interior retrimmed and I will be very happy indeed :)

Does anyone know if you can add oem cruise to the 90? If not I'l go for an aftermarket system.

When I was thinking of extending my mortgage I was looking at the 407 XS sport
One up in halifax and one in Warrington
I think that is the one that was in Warrington and originally it was £5295!!!
1999 D8.5 HDi GLX - Sold :(

Haha, I would definitely lose interest at that price! That's getting into W211 E-class territory.

That seems like a lot of money for a 406 to me Bailes, see.

Looking for Low Milage, full service history with receipts, MOT's, no more than 3 owners.
Also going to have to be a HDi90, I really want another 406, cant justify the insurance on a 110.
Rapier is probably the highest spec HDi90 I'm going to find.

If my coupé blew up tomorrow (and once I've sold my Golf), These would be the only candidates I'd consider (in order):

1) Fixing it.

2) E39 BMW 540 touring. Black leather (V8 estate, rwd = Nice. Wish there were an M5 touring of that era...)
3) D9 406 Coupé with ES9J4S but no COM2000. Cosmos Grey or maybe Aegean Blue. Might go for a COM2000 model and try to upgrade it with an older wheel, column, stalks and BSI
4) 407SW. Silver (looks good with tinted windows). ES9J4S, or I'll take a blown up one and have a little game of "cram the V6 in using duct tape and jubilee clip engine mounts then frig the ECUs and glue a new instrument cluster in"
5) D9 406 estate, ES9J4S exec. If I can fit one in the garage
6) X-Type V6 4WD estate, although I'm not sure about the dashboard...

There just isn't anything else I like the look of under £3000. The Merc on Top Gear the other week looked very nice, but I think as a company they've only ever sold two manual gearboxes, and both exploded before they even got assembled... Some poor German bloke was there machining a cog and BANG it just exploded on him...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Dead thread resurrection time;

Very tempted by these 2 that are local to me:

But having seen Doggy's again over the weekend, I'm still liking the idea of this too:

They aren't all that common either, so I was quite surprised to find a low mileage example at a reasonable price (& in a fantastic colour) so close to home. Insurance isn't too bad, fuel consumption would be a fair drop, but my main reservations with V40s are that they don't seem all that spacious & Swedes are expensive to fix when anything breaks.

The Beemer caught my eye mainly as it's got the rare folding rear seats.

If it was just me & the little man I'd have so many options open to me, but shouldn't think like that.
