Gary if you want something Realy loud Grab a technics amp mate,
plenty of them about and they go at reasonable prices ,
only problem with the Technics amps they eat speakers

Re: home audio
i can recommend b+w speakers . very good sound http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/B-W-DM602-S2-Spea ... 4aaca807c8
the yellow stuff is kevlar same as the stuff in bullet proof vests, seems standard fit on b&w's. they produce very good sound quality i have a set myself
as for the rotel amp i had one once, that was also very good, had a very 3 dimensional sound to it, am goin back about ten years but it was about 120 quid new at the time
depends on what ya prepared to spend gary you can throw literally tousands of££££££ at this stuff, i bought extension leads that were 25 quid , they cut out rfi and do make a difference to the sound quality. also choppeed the power leads off and re-wired with anti rfi stuff. upgraded the interconnects too for about 30 quid.get decent speaker wire as well , all my wires etc was from here : http://www.russandrews.com/
dont be put off by the prices at first glance, like i say ya can throw thousands at this stuff
marantz also do very good amps and cd players, quality stuff at reasonable prices

Re: home audio
from what i can tell the jbl's are monitor speakers thekind of thing ya karoke man sets up with in the local pub , and are'nt really home audio kit
the jamo ones are home audio speakers and being 3 way ie 1x bass driver 1x mid range driver and 1x tweeter, will give a decent sound quality so i would have the jamos. they'll be plenty loud enough too . if ya can get them for anywhere near the £30 mark i dont think ya can go far wrong

Re: home audio
well ive bought these for £50. starting bid was £37 so i offered £50 and they accepted.
only trouble is they are 116 miles away from my home. oh well not to far

i went for some old school type speakers for some reason. with 15" woofers in each box they should be quite good for the price

Re: home audio
Another one for B&W speakers.
They may not be cheap but they are the best (by a long way)
I have a sony HD amp driving a pair of B&W fronts, B&W centre speaker and they can handle far more than the amp can throw at them.
Unfortunately my sub and Missions on the rear can't handle anything like the B&Ws and once the B&Ws start to get warmed up and are at their best the sub and rears are flapping badly
I would buy a bigger set of B&Ws for the front and put what I have on the rear but can't afford it at the moment and I will never buy anything but B&W again.
As said they have Kevlar cones and oil cooled titanium tweeters.
The B&Ws go loud enough to rattle the windows in their frames and the treble could break glass.
I dream about buying a pair of B&W Nautilus but I don't have £55,000
