what is the paint code for a dark blue which i see most 406's in

Hi there
Unfortunately you will need to be more specific - the 406 was offered in a wide range of colours, and there are a fair few of them that look similar.
The ones I can think of are:
China Blue
Monaco Blue
Rhodes Blue
Then there is the 406 Coupe, which had a set of exclusive paints that were not offered to the Saloon and Estate versions - dark blue on the Coupe would suggest Polaris Blue (or, depending on your definition of a dark blue, you could also include Aegean Blue).

Monaco Blue / KMWC in my experience was an absolute nightmare to get a paint match.
If it needs paint touchups, don't bother. Just polish over and hope noone notices!
