Airport Carparking + my 405...

Post by Hangar18 »

Taking the 405 to Luton for my Holiday. It's going to be sat for 5 days- battery usually doesn't last longer than 3 days- normally wouldn't be an issue but it's valet parking. So I can guarantee the battery is going to be dead on my return- do they have some jump leads? if not- do they ever consider unplugging the battery terminal connector for customers?

I agree with DiscoPols oracle.

They're bound to have one of those battery charger packs. Couldn't imagine an airport parking company without something.
Bound to happen loads of time, cars parked up for a week or two.
At least you don't have BSI to worry about!

I'd be more interested in finding out why the battery drains after such a short period of time.

My old Renault Clio (of 1994 vintage) sat at the long-stay car park at Edinburgh Airport for nearly a month once, and she started up straight away, first turn of the key.

3 days for full battery to zero? Duff battery, maybe? Or some kind of short somewhere, causing the battery to drain? Bad earth?

Or is this something peculiar to the 405?

Car was sat for 6 months and then when I got it up and running again the altenator buggered and the battery capacities been shocking since. Scrapping it as soon as the 406 is good. So keep an eye out for my posts if you want a 405 for spares and repairs. Its got 205stdt aalloys with a lot of tread, reconned gearbox, reconned alrenator and newish starter motor :-)

Save Hangar's, sounds like it could be a bad earth somewhere if you're into your electricals.

Very rare now, though I saw one the other week towing a trailer on the Saintfield Road - still a workhorse!

I'm about to get the tram to the train station, to the airport, to plutonium to the carpark to my car... I'll report back with my findings... I hope my cousin's feeling strong and willing, the 405 might be light but still over a tonne!

Yep... It was flat- stereo and lights came on, literally spun the engine over 4 times. Luckily an incredibly helpful young blonde was already en-route to my car to wish me well on my travels- and she grabbed a jump starter for me- within 5 seconds I was mobile :D
