De fap/dpf removal

Post by 406loon »

The law of sod has rained down on me with car ownership! ...After 2 weeks of owning my 406 yesterday the DPF light lit twice when I was driving. It only came on during full boost, it doesnt appear to come on through normal driving. So now is time to remove it. Does anyone know a reputable place in the West Midlands that can do it the proper way - removal of dpf and deletion from ECU?

I dont want to pay more than £250-£299 for it though. Seen some places charge £400 which is a bit of daylight robbery for plugging a laptop in and removing a pipe and supplying a straight bit of stainless steel pipe.

If anyone else is interested we could maybe find somewhere that could do us a group buy day to bring the cost down.

Judging by the way the MOT is going with Catalytic Convertors next year, I think the best solution would be hammering the guts out of the FAP & putting the pipe back in place to give the illusion of still having one.

After all, that could be on the list for 2013...

Bash the FAP element out before Gaydon and you can zoom home, fault free, with an extra 40-odd horses.

AKA Mr. Doggy will do it for you free of charge 'cos he's just so cool like that

PS: Doggy will he be able to drive DPF fault-free to Gaydon once he's knocked the guts out of that DPF?

Im a bit worried that I will be doing damage to the engine driving it around before having it done. I think il keep the DPF once its been removed so if in the future its needed for an MOT then it can be popped back in for test.
