Central locking and electric window problems

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Central locking and electric window problems

Post by DaveyRapier »

First of all hello I'm new to the forum and I must say it looks great and seems to be a nice community. Now onto my problems lol

Recently bought my '02 rapier hdi off ebay (yes I know not the first time won't be the last I love the thrill) got the car home anyway turned out to be in pretty good shape although it has been in a slight accident before on the drivers side, from the front door right back to the back of the quarter panel has been damaged although the repair is pretty good I just have an eye for bodywork. Now I have just mentioned that because I believe it may have something to do with the problem.

The car has 4 electric windows, the only one that worked initially was the p/s front. I have since got the d/s front working by replacing the switch panel on the door and the mechanism. But the remaining fault is that I have no power at all to the rear windows. The lights on the switch panel for the rear 2 don't light up at all when I have the headlights on. I have checked the loom for broken wires to no avail. Any ideas?

Secondly the central locking is goosed. When I lock the car it reopens itself straight away. Have checked all the locks to see if any are sticking and they are all fine. What would be next to check. The central locking module?

Any help appreciated.

I'd check the door switches for the locking issue, if the car thinks one of the doors isn't closed properly it will refuse to stay locked.

By door switches I assume you mean the buttons on the doorcards for locking and unlocking yeah? What is the most efficient way of testing them? All of the doors lock and unlock fine when I do them one at a time.

Take the doorcard off and the insulation. Disconnect the rods and loom. Undo the three torx screws , and it comes out
