Wheels for Peugeot 406 2.0HDI

Post by GavC »

Can anyone tell me what wheels will fit on my Peugeot 406 2.0HDI 2001 model?

I have some wheels on my Renault Saffrane and would really like to know if I can put them on my Peugeot 406?

Thanks,

hello and welcome to the club.

now not wanting to state the obvious but have you tried em? as long as they clear the brake callipers, dont stick out beyond the body work and dont catch on anything then you will have your answer :)

Renault are 4x100, and I think the larger later ones are 5x108 IIRC. If it's the 5 stud, then they're the same as the more modern Peugeots (and Fords, and some Jags) with 5 studs (i.e., 407, etc) BUT your 406 is older than this and has 4x108 fitment. This means Peugeot, Citroen and Ford rims are pretty much all you will be able to look at, and Ford rims will more than likely require 20mm spacers and longer bolts to fit right.

Hope that doesn't confuse you too much! Basically, no your Saffrane wheels won't fit without hub adaptors.

Dont mean to hijack thread but I am also asking the same question. I would quite like some 17'' wheels to go on and want to keep an OE look so looking at other Peugeots that ran 17s. I have checked offset and it looks like the 307 has same offset so has anyone got any pics of 406s with some of the 306 "challenger" wheels on? as I think these look quite nice.

If you're basing your info on the online fitment guides that show all Peugeot & Citroen to be 15-25mm offset, it's all bullsh*t. 307 wheels have a 27-31mm offset & 406s can take a 25mm offset maximum & at that you'd probably find that anything wider than a 6.5ins wheel would rub on full lock.

Standard 406 15ins wheels have an 18mm offset & my 7x16ins Hoggar & Nautilus wheels are a 12mm offset. If you want bigger wheels on a 406 then you need either spacers or a below 20mm offset - & they aren't easy to find on aftermarket wheels either.

Thanks for the info. Any idea if a set of 17s listed for a 405 fit ok though?

Possibly, but it's worth getting the offset to be sure. Most Ebay sellers are clueless, so I usually just ask them to give me ALL of the numbers that they can find on the wheel, then decode it for myself. If you find a set & get the info, PM me or post on here & somebody will be able to give you the answers.
