406 Trip activation - can anyone help?
Hi
I have a 406 2.0L 16v Petrol GLX Estate, 1999 on a V (facelift model) and I have added a wiper control stalk that also has the trip feature (which the original didn't have).
When I fired the car up, I pressed the button and it does scroll through all of the trip features, but it shows no numbers, only lines where they should be.
Is there a trick to getting it working or do I need speciallist equipment?
I have been told of the PP2000 but can't find anything to buy on e-bay etc....
Any advice greatfully received,
Cheers.

It wont start showing figures unless your driving, although range to empty should always be up on the display.

Hi and thanks for the reply,
When I tried it, it didn't show any numbers in range to empty, it shows the all of the trip options like range to empty etc, just no numbers......

thats strange, id expect a glx to have it activated, sounds more like a sensor problem, do you want pp2000 for finding out if there is a fault or for activating the trip computer because it sounds like its activated but it has a problem getting its information.
lexia is the best way to find the pp2000 on ebay:

Thank you for this, I will give it a try.
I am wondering if I will get a better result once the car has been driven as all I did was to install the stalk and start the car to see if it had the trip functions.
Could it need run to get the baseline numbers?
Cheers.

.....I have driven the car today and done 25 miles, yet the trip still will not show me the numbers and it is blank (e.g. _ _ _ M > > > & the petrol pump symbol for the range to empty, and _ _ _ MPG for instant consumption)
Is there anything else I need to do?
Is there anyone in South Cumbria that has PP2000 that can help me...?
Regards

Wasn't there a wire you needed to run from the ECU to the MDF or was that only for D8's?

Hi
I am not at all sure, and as a total electrical system incompetent and at the risk of outing myself as a complete dummy, could you tell me what the MDF is and is there anyone out there that knows if and how to run this wire?
I'm out of my depth........much more comfortable with mechanical stuff
