I got the question about level crossings wrong (first warning of an approaching train is a steady amber light; I thought it was flashing twin red lights)

Yeah I got that one wrong

I misread one of the questions about the solid white line, as I read it as the one in the centre of the road i.e no overtaking, but it was referring to the one on the left doh!

I got the towing one right as I know them as I've had to send the police in Rugby copies of the speed limits NUMEROUS times as they've tried to prosecute me for speeding
So i've printed it off and sent it to them times, until I got really arsey with them and told them if they didn't stop wasting my time i'd be charging them £25 admin fee for any further "Intention of Prosecution" recieved for the same place (A5 at the Redgate near Nuneaton)

the 3 lane motorway is very confusing to me here in NI where the M1 is 2 lanes and a hard shoulder but the driving test has no motorway driving at all

Exactly.

Apart from short sections of the M1 and M2, Most length of motorway in NI is 2 lane (as is Scotland).

I've never gotten the whole "grr! middle lane drivers!" thing that comedians do on TV.

No-one here knows how to use the 3 lane sections, so they use it as a 2 lane motorway with the leftmost lane used as a sliproad for the next junction.

the biggest problem on our motorway or motorways, is the lorrys they overtake eachother because one is doing 54mph and the other needs to do 56mph so you driving along happily with the cruise on, then you get these blocking the whole show.

Exactly. Only time I get to put the cruise on properly is the motorway in the middle of the night, and that is a rarity.

I guess that they figured NI (and Scotland) didn't have the population density for 3 lane motorways apart from short sections where they enter Belfast.

I think the M2 does have scope under most of the bridges up until the phantom M2/M22 fork to be upgraded to D3M.

ive never drove up to the m2 only been a passenger, i hate all that town driving round belfast or any city all the lanes you need to be in, and if your in the wrong lane no one will let you turn into their lane

You've never been up the M2? You've never lived!

From the 10 lane foreshore, once the UK's widest motorway, to the uphill section - one of the steepest sections of motorway except for the Scottish M90, past industrial Mallusk with the Baileys factory, out to the Country Antrim countryside. The phantom M2/M22 diverge, the mainline continues to M22 while the next turnoff you can take the Ballymena road and rejoin - the M2! Only for a short section though bypassing Ballymena.

I live and work in Belfast, city driving isn't too bad. If you are in the wrong lane, or your lane is blocked by a bus / turning car, usually someone will eventually let you in to the other lane.

It's the rural driving that scares me. Wee narrow roads that you could fly round and hit a person / cyclist / tractor / cow. And if you take it easy because you don't want to kill someone or something, the other rural motorists are up yer arse in their Izuzu Troopers and 306 DTurbos wondering why you aren't doing 90mph.

ive never been that far up north, should we need to go to say ballymena, or portrush we go up the west ie past cookstown, ive really never been on the m2, or to stroke city.

Country driving can be good, i like the roads if you have low hedges, no junctions or houses and can see for miles ahead then i would let er rip (which is still within the speed limit), but if not particularly if the hedges are high i just dither at 30 because of the aformentioned other rural drivers.
