More De-Abusing of the 406 old lower rad panel had previous accident damage, and although it only really holds the rad's up the whole front end panels were out of alignment,
i had to change the aircon compressor so i decided to completly strip the front end. old panel was spot welded on so i decided to plug weld the new panel in position, rather than
stich weld, seam sealed and painted black to protect welds. good news is all the panels now lighn up almost deabused her, then time for tarting

Pmsl, i also completely flushed out the water system and the turbo pipes & intercooler while at it, the intercooler was filthy, i am guessing its gonna be at least 30% more efficient now

with it being new steel/ welds all it needed was a quick coat of zinc undercoat, and black top coat to water proof it m8, oil from the breather and turbo bypass fumes settle in the intercooler because its to coldest part of the system, but the fins of the intercooler were also quite badly blocked with road grime. so i cleaned it both internaly and externaly

is there a spray equivilant to hammerite direct to rust glossy black? I want to paint the subframe and rear suspension with it, they are not rusty just scruffy looking.

To clean the intercooler could i just wash it out with the hose? any chemicals needed?

You can get Hammerite in a spray can i used neat TFR (Traffic FIlm Remover) in my intercooler and left it for about 2 mins untill it started reacting with the alloy (this means its burnt through the crap & oil) and rinsed it well after to stop the reaction.

thanks for the advice, ill give it a go when i get the chance hopefully a clean intercooler means more mpg's.

Your doing a good job on the car though.
