Hdi Pump

Hi

I have noticed that my High Pressure pump is noisy (not metal noisy, more air noisy), even after the engine is warm. When i rev it with the bonnet open i can notice a definite whooshing noise.

Is this normal or should i start looking for a new HDi pump

How can you hear that?

Are you sure it's not coming from the PAS pump?

The H P pump is mucho mucho £££££££££

You can get a pressure reading in PSi from the ECU but this will envolve a code read (some do it for 30.00 now) this should indicate if there is pressure problems with the pump.

The pumps are pretty tough - failures are rare. If it is noisy it's more likely the belt than the pump itself.

Thinking about it, when I first got my HDi it required a Cambelt change and untill it was done there was a ''swish-swish'' rotary belt type noise around the Cam Sproket area, this promptly went away with the new belt.
