[help] headlight hight adjustment

Post by RayneR »

Well, i bought this new headlight and the new headlight was pointing a bit down, but when i came to the hight adjuster and tried to adjust the headlight it won't adjust.

I bought a new adjuster and there is this problem, i could only lever it a bit up, and the adjuster as come to the final course .

What my possibilities to adjust the headlight right ? I have some ideas which might work or not.

1- Unplug the adjuster of the good headlight , and then lever at maximum number ( which is 0 ) , and then unplug the cable of the adjuster from the bad headlight and then on the scroll wheel inside putting it again in 3 and then plug the cable of adjuster again, and then lever it again at - or 0.

2- Adjusting manually at max, then remove the adjuster out, and manually adjust backwards and then placing the adjuster again and again manually try to lever it up ...

Which one works best ? Or Is any other options out there ?

Thanks.

whats up with your old headlight?
is it just a lens problem.

if the casing is good carnt you just swap the lens over possibly?

its pretty easy to get the lens off with a Palette knife,

the adjuster works on a ball and socket connection, get someone to turn the level adjuster inside the car whilst, you firstly listen and physically hold the adjuster to make sure its working (motor), if it is then drop down and watch the reflective holder from the front of the car to make sure its going up and down when the adjuster is being moved (by your helper), if it is moving then it's possible you have placed the bulb in Upside down, rotate the bulb 180 degrees, if the bulb is correctly positioned, and you can see the reflective inner moving when your helper is turning the adjusting switch inside the car (more up than down) then it would appear that the ball and socket joint from the adjusting mechanism isnt properly inserted, remove the adjusting motor, remove the back plate from the main beam bulb, reach inside the main beam bulb space and gently pull the reflective holder back into place, whilst still applying pressure, reinsert the level motor, you should hear the ball and socket joint lock in place if correctly inserted...... job done :D if the motor isnt working, then its french, and they come with electrical niggles as standard... tell the mot tester this and "Duck"  (damm this took for ever after 1/2 a litre of smirnoff)  and i willl still read it in the morning and try to find the delete button :P :P

:frown: :frown: yeah there bad when people buy them on the strength of a MOT, although my mate lets them come to me with a pass/ fail, he knows i would never let them leave me/ or him with dangerous issues   a call to vosa is the only way around that one m8, but the only thing you will achieve is the satisfaction that no one else will be getting a "Mates MOT"

Thanks iang, actually i have this mod i made to my headlights, which is a projector, and they came with xenon, but this as nothing to do because the headlight was already pointing down, but yeah i can see the chromed interior moving with the automated mechanism inside the car and manually, but even in fullest it won't get to a good point.

( damn these chinese replicas are full of bugs )

So, the problem is inside the headlight, the hight mechanism is far from it's hole ? What i need to do is push the mechanism closer to the hole and at same time placing the motor?(makes sense because everytime i try to put the motor in place, the motor push away the reflector and that makes it pointing down ....)

When i have everything sorted, i'll post some pics for the comunity :cheesy:

Sorry for my english not being so good

Remember you can also adjust the headlight with an allen key - look for the adjuster on the back of the light cluster!

Well it's pretty much that atadinho, but not the whole headlight, i bought a projector kit that is on ebay. i had to open the headlights and cut a bit of the chrome and voila, i have them fitted, the only con part is that i bought the blue angel version and some people already told me that is not legal to hang around here with this minimum lights, i will put a dashboard button so when i see a police officer i can turn them off, and still the normal minimum is turned on :D, when i have my pug cleaned i'll take some pics for you (it is really that dirty).

Stalled, yep i noticed that little scam yesterday when i removed the headlight, well i could manage to put the light pointing more up, but it is still not enough, i think i have to screw some more that back adjuster.
