Stop speculating everyone, there is no reason why a HDi cannot run on 100% well made Bio B100.
Many people on http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/forum are running HDi's on 100% Bio without problems.

Yeah I don't see why they run rough, but you will eat seals for a pastime. The methanol content causes this.
You should really try get a sample of the bio diesel in a lucozade bottle or something and add a drop of water to it and shake it then leave it overnight. If it's cloudy the next morning the bio diesel is bad.

Methanol content should be removed before putting into the car as far as I know about Bio. Aslong as its well made then they shouldn't be any problems.
Seals can go at any time. What happens is, the Diesel makes the seals hard, the Veg makes the seals soft, and cos they were hard they prob have cracks in.

A mate had a 1.9TD Berlingo, and it ran fine on Veg. HDi would need Bio.

I know some people who have used Veg on HDi with 50/50 Diesel and its been fine.

i wouldnt risk it on a HDI theres too many things to go wrong and balls up the whole car, injectors for example, i really do not want to have to put them in a car.

I run my 406 coupe on 100 per cent bio diesel, it runs ok, get less.nog though, but this is counteracted by the much lesser cost of the bio, the diesel knock is greatly reduced and is much quieter, just make sure you change the fuel filter regular for the first few thousand miles then at normal intervals, and the car should run fine, providing its good quality bio.

As previously stated, an HDI should be fine on properly made BD, and is well tried and tested. This goes for the majority of diesel engines. However, the problem is that a good portion of commercially made BD is junk and this is where the problems come from. Personally at that price difference I wouldn't bother. If you are interested, look into going down the home brew route, at least then you will have the confidence that what you are putting in the tank isn't garbage. The users on vegetableoildiesel sometimes post test results of purchased BD, and it is often pretty shocking.
