Central locking issue

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Central locking issue

Post by DaveyRapier »

Im sure this has been covered on here before but I tried the search function and couldn't find the info I was after. Anyway the central locking in my '02 406 hdi is faulty. When I lock the car either off the key fob or doing it manually the car locks then instantly unlocks itself again, rather annoying tbh. Now someone suggested it may be a faulty solenoid in the lock, so set about trying to find which one. I disconnected the 2 rear door plugs one at a time and it was still happening so it must be one of the front doors (most likely drivers I would think)

What im asking is has anyone ever replaced a solenoid before? Is there a how to guide or anything knocking around? Also anyone provide part numbers? Any help appreciated....

Before you start messing with the electrics spray some WD40 into the keyholes or take the door cards off and spray the locks a couple of us had this problem last year :supafrisk:
