Disable Tyre Pressure Sensors
Hi All,
Just got my first 406 (2ltr HDI) and am Just wondering if there is any way to disable the tyre pressure sensors? I have a faulty one and really don't need them.
Also wondering if I have to buy special tyres if I have tyre sensors, or can I just get any tyre that will fit the rim.
Cheers
Dave

Re: Disable Tyre Pressure Sensors
You don't need special tyres, the sensor/transmitter is attached to the wheel (somehow). It may just be the battery in the sensor has died...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: Disable Tyre Pressure Sensors
Did a go-ogle and it seems the sensors are in the valves.
Have a look to see if the valve stems are different

Remember - it only takes a few inches of water to drown a 406 don't make the same mistake I made! The V6 Exec is no more.

Re: Disable Tyre Pressure Sensors
I know I'm resurrecting a very old topic here, but it would appear that the main question never got answered & I too would like to know if it's possible to disable them. Has anyone ever spotted the option on the PP2000 to turn them off? Do they work by remote or is there some kind of plug on the hub?

Re: Disable Tyre Pressure Sensors
thats another message for the MFD to shout out.
Im suprised about the presence of pressure sensors on the 406.

Re: Disable Tyre Pressure Sensors
The sensor is on the inside of the wheel at the end of the valve. You can swap your wheels around all over the place and it will always flag the correct one on the MFD. I have them the 207 and i hate them with a passion. I'd love to have it deleted but as far as i know its a stealer only job

Re: Disable Tyre Pressure Sensors
That's odd, when my dad got his second C5 he swapped the wheels over with his first, then it went berserk on the way home and he had to have the pressure sensors coded to his car. I also read (somewhere - this was when I was trying to persuade him to get winter tyres) that you could configure it for up to 8 wheels.
Maybe they changed the system

Re: Disable Tyre Pressure Sensors
yes you can code the car to accept up to 10 on my c5 or so the dealer tells me, this is to allow for summer winter and the associated spares but then my car is a newy so dont know if that is true of the 406 system, my dealer actually said it wasnt worth the hassle of getting new sensors for the winter and he would just disable it for me for free, if i bought my steel rims and winter rubber off him, yeah thats gonna happen at 4000 pln for a set of 4

Sorry, i was getting at you can swap the wheels around back to front side to side and it will be fine and yes they need to be coded to the car

Re: Disable Tyre Pressure Sensors
there isnt even anything mentioned in the instruction book and i cant see anything on servicebox.
Re: Disable Tyre Pressure Sensors
On the 407 you can fit coventional valves and have the car programmed to "not see" the sensors.

Re: Disable Tyre Pressure Sensors
I'm interested in finding out mainly because it came up with the C5 I looked at over the weekend & I figured that I would rather just not have tyre pressure sensors at all as theyre expensive things that go wrong for a pasttime. I'd rather just check my tyres myself.
Still not heard from anybody with PP2000/Lexia to say that they've seen the option to turn them off, but I would've thought that if a dealer has said that they could do it, then chances are they'd do it with their PP2000/Lexia.
