Sensor Sensor Sensible advice......

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Sensor Sensor Sensible advice......

Post by L12PUG »

Hi all!

PP2000 tells me I have the following faults: :frown:

Engine - Intermittent Fault Inlet Manifold Pressure Sensor

Engine - Intermittent Fault Engine Speed Sensor

Is the first one simply a MAP sensor replace?

Where will I find the Engine Speed Sensor? (I thought it could be the crankshaft sensor....but there are loads of speed sensors on e-bay.......)

I'd be greatful for some clarification??

Many thanks folks - appreciation in advance

Well, first thing, they're both intermittent, (as opposed to 'permanent'), faults - which I take to mean not currently faulty.

Have you tried clearing them & seeing if they come back? If they don't, job jobbed. 8)

If they do, try looking further.

FWIW, I'd say the first relates to the MAP sensor.

The second, (guessing here), most likely the crank sensor, (the only other possibility being the cam sensor, which I think is only used in the injector flow correction algorithm). Certainly the crank reluctor ring will have an index position, making it the natural choice for RPM measurement.

Hi

Yeah, I cleared them last week and they were there again today, along with a permanent fault on the Radio aerial :?:

Is it worth removing them both and giving them a clean?

Cheers

Well you've got nothing to lose, it's possible they are crudded up. I've got a funny feeling the MAP sensor is within the ECU.
