No wonder you were down on power. My lift needle sensor on injector one was buggered - had very little power beyond 3000rpm and not as much as I'd want down below. Had to have the whole injector replaced for a sum of 150 quid though instead of getting it cleanedsupafrisk wrote: One was the fuel injection sensor?

Please see my 'Last straw' thread today.......supafrisk wrote:Yes but the noise has come back, it sounds like Thomas the Tank on a good day![]()
TBH I'm at a low point right now. I'm considering getting shot of it. To me it's twice the car old Supatai was in spec, but it ain't half the car the old gal was in temperament, or loyalty.![]()
I know what you mean there Supa, if you don't think the cars right then it probably isn't.
It seems you get good ones and bad ones with HDi's, mine is in fantastic condition, has had good owners with full history and it's still no good

But what would you replace it with?

Everyone has always said that Peugeot's have funny electrics, this has gone back years, so why the hell can't Peugeot go away and sit in a room somewhere a make sure ''ze electreeks'' work properly?
Afterall, it is the electrics that make a car reliable is it not?
Is it me or does the D9 seem to have far more electrical problems than the D8

In three years that I've had my D8 Diesel, I have had very few problems. When it was VERY hot in the summer (over +35 degrees C), the automatic driver's window liked to close 95% of the way and then go all the way down again, but that happened only a few times. And last year, there was some clicking from the dash somewhere that sounded like a relay from the indicators. Again, hasn't reoccured since.Welton wrote:Is it me or does the D9 seem to have far more electrical problems than the D8
Fingers crossed nothing else goes awry!

OH MY GOD
Ok so im the new kid on the block and its taking a bit of time to catch up with some of the threads on here. Only had my 406 3 weeks and im HAPPY with it (so far) ok the air bag light was on when i got it but thats gone off now. Problem is reading some of the threads is making me wonder if ive done the right thing in buying the car. It has no knocks or rattles dosn't seem to have any other problems or have i got all this to come. Should i get rid quick while all seems well????????. Would be a shame because as a total caraphobe im actualy enjoying being back on 4 wheels with the PUG.
Bloody hell cars aint that bad
Touche, that fits the description of mine, to the letter!supafrisk wrote: ....get an old banger with every panel dented that looks like it's done a destruction derby and the engine runs as sweet as a nut day in, day out and never fails you....
Is it me, or do the early D8s seems to be far sturdier and reliable than the later version of the D8 and all D9s?
A lot of D8s on ebay, Autotrader etc with 140K+ mileage still demanding £700 and upward!

Re: OH MY GOD
In general, 406's are renowned for reliability (especially diesels) and I can say that mine, with exception of the usual maintenance, has not gone wrong. I certainly hope it continues to do so!pipe*n*slippers wrote:Ok so im the new kid on the block and its taking a bit of time to catch up with some of the threads on here. If there's nothing wrong with your car, then there's no point getting rid of it.... you never know... you could end up with something much much worse
Re: OH MY GOD
Look at my list... £150 and a day's work would have it running bang on (if I can remove those damn bolts holding the rear discs!). It's a 9 year old petrol model that's about to clock up 150k and I reckon it'll easily hit 200 and beyond as long as I manage to get the thing serviced soon. Oh, and I go through the occasional phase of being extremely right-foot heavy putting all that turbocharged goodness to use round country lanes, so all in all I can't say anything bad about it, especially as it gets me 600 miles a week to work and back in luscious comfortpipe*n*slippers wrote:Ok so im the new kid on the block and its taking a bit of time to catch up with some of the threads on here.
