bitch!

Post by poddack »

She's had me on my back again this morning to check why my handbrake is rubbish, cables are a bit worn through, shoes were fine, changed the discs and pads because one side was more worn than the other.
OOH! One of my rear brake calipers is siezed off. That would do it!

Any way a bit of beating and lots of WD40 and I have effected a temporary repair to my rear caliper until I replace them.

slider bolts for repairing my calipers were £29 for the pair from biggred, much better than £49 a side from the main stealer.

SORTED! Took me from 6.50 to about 9.15 tonight to do it with a small desk light.
Two new handbrake cables
Two new caliper slider bolts
And a quick adjustment.
Now for some beer!

Back to my mot garage for a free handbrake adjustment (with all it's new bits). Feels much better, but they've only managed to get 21% out of it!
Is this the rubbish Peugeot handbrake I'm expecting?

Yep, they're crap. It's not much of a surprise 'cos they're the same size shoes as fitted to the rear end of a Fiat Uno  The best you can do with them is give the shoes & the insides of the disks a scuff with emery/sand/glass paper and adjust all play out of them before the test, then for the rest of the year leave it in gear.

My parking space is on a slope, and a hole has developed in the surface
Knowing how bad the handbrake is on the 406, i've deliberately not filled it in, and just drop a wheel into it when I park up :cheesy:

2007 Mondingo Zetec - I seek forgiveness :( Bring back my 406
