The X-Line will have no more electronics than a Multiplex 406 ?

My mate's here right now - it does say "4-motion" on the back, and underneath that it says "synchro" And now it needs a new engine (factory reconditioned - 10,000€)

Whats up with the centres?
I can always get them retrimmed.

But at the moment I'm looking more towards the 1.6 HDi 407. The X-Line dosen't have a DPF either. But still no leather :(
The centres aren't 1 piece of patterned cloth, but a load of weaved thread & little plastic bits. They catch on pockets & aren't too easy to keep clean. If an SRi interior comes up I'll go for it for the sake of losing the weight of the motors, but if a decent leather set comes up again I'll probably go for that.

400,000km! Apparently the one in the next town also needs a new engine, it's also done around the same mileage.

It sounded nice when it was running anyway.

I know that, my Aunti had a 206 with the same sort of thing. I'm sure SRi's are the same too?

They just don't drive as well as a 406! If anything, your Focus is more fun to drive!

SRi seats just have a blue thread woven through instead of grey on the SE, but I'd still have them to get rid of the electric motors & still have the side support. Full leather is much easier to clean though. May even get totally experimental & fit a C5 interior & have a rear armrest.

..and besides, it's simple mathematics:
1.6 into 407 doesn't go
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

1.6 does go into 407 254.375 times :cheesy:

although 2.0 into 406 leaves a much tidier 203

ive drove a 1.6 in a 307, 308 and c4 i really liked the c4 it pulled nicely with that engine but in a 407 or c5 it must be a bit slow

I've not driven one, but have a feeling that it'll be something similar to the 11 plate Renault Grand Scenic I had while working at Wellingborough. Had a 1.5Dci engine with 109bhp & 6 gears. Was fine running around town & coming home on the dual carriageways with just me & my bags, but took it to Pontefract with 3 passengers & you could feel it struggling.

That sounds familiar,
this picasso thing ive got, is pretty nippy if theres only myself in it,
any more than 2 passengers and its like a morris minor,

ithought getting a little engine in a big car wouid be beneficial but its not,
the strain on the engine makes them about as cheap to run as a bigger engine

I've got serious reservations about these new smaller capacity high-boosted motors, 1.6 Diesels, 1.4 Petrols, I can't see them running the full course. Who'd buy a 1.4TSi (turbo and s/charger) after about 7 years and 140,000 miles Image

Apparently the 1.6TD (PSA derived) in the Volvo's run about 2.3bar of boost from the factory
