steering grabbing

Post by Gary406 »

my steering seems to be grabing both ways every now and again..

checked my tyres and they are fine.

could this be droplink failure ? i havnt changed my droplinks now for well over 12 months. and back in april MOT advised they get changed due to perrised rubber seals ...

can a power steering pump be on its way out or will it just go and not work at all ?

i mean can it be faulty and knackered but still work if you know what i mean ?

Might not be the belt,
worth a check tho,

Been thru anywater in the road lately ?
iknow the belts dont like water, hence the d9 being fitted with the undertrays,

ive found that pwr steering pumps start going noisey if theyre failing,

i had this when turning on mine
could be the tensioner
i was told once [by someone who knows these things] that the spring can change as being close to the engine it goes through lots of heat cycles which changes the metal.
anyway changed mine and all was good

You may have a leak from one of the pipes; once you've topped it up clean around all the joints and check for any leakage after a couple of days driving.

ok, week or so later and its still the same. if anything its getting worse .

tyre pressure is fine but front tyres are almost bald

could bald tyres be cause of it ??

its like power steering is failing and steering wheel goes stiff and sometimes wen i brake the front end snakes

guy at garage said it could be universal joint ?? never heard of that before..
