The Hdi isn a timed pump is it ?
so therefore, if belt as slipped for eg wouidnt it still pump fuel ?

No, you don't need to 'time' the HP pump, injection timing's ecu controlled.
If you've got a seriously leaky injector, it can shove so much fuel back down the leak-off pipes there's not enough left for it to start on, (Hence I suggested a leak off test).
You might be able to tell if the injectors are firing by listening for the clicks with a screwdriver resting on the solenoid body and your ear on t'other end.
If they're not, try the crank sensor - it won't inject any fuel unless the ecu 'thinks' the engines doing > 60 RPM
Tend to agree with the words of caution regarding fuel pressure - you'll get about 250 Bar when cranking and if it does fire up, it'll go as high as 1350 Bar at full power.......

did you find out? i'm itching to know now. i still say something wi your pump
Re: *** 2.0 Hdi turbo diesel wont start ***
Still dont know lads, had one injector stripped and cleaned and rebuilt, and had 2 others cleaned out, still no luck, we havent had it running for 3 weeks now, and we havent tried "sniff" my dad refuses to as he thinks if the car uses it, it will become dependant on it, Where are the fuel pumps and how do we accesses them??
Thank you
Thank you

This is a total myth, this is a car, not a human being

However, using the easy start or similar can damage the pistons with prolonged use. One squirt of the stuff should not do any harm....I used it monday this week to start a Peugeot Partner van with glow plug problems, I told my customer to use it whenever it failed to start until I can get to it next week.
BTW, is this a 110 or a 90?

I've seen it said on a few forums that engines can get addicted to "sniff" if you use it too much, I suspect the reason for this is it's because they didn't fix the fault that caused them to use it in the first place.
Unless it's a 90bhp with Siemens injection it'll have two pumps - a low pressure "lift" pump in the fuel tank - you should hear this run for a few seconds when you first turn the "ignition" on (if you lift the rear seat cushion you should find a cover which you turn anti-clockwise to remove & it's under there) and a high pressure pump on the front on the engine, run by the cam belt. Siemens injection doesn't have a lift pump, it has a primer bulb under the bonnet probably near the r/h suspension tower.

Injectors rebuilt
talk about chasing your own tail , that takes the buiscuit
whats made you think its the injectors,?
Re:sniff, ithink easy start isnt too good for derv engines,
alot of people are using brake cleaner these days,

I think the main problem with HDis in particular is the distance between the inlet and the engine. The inlet is under the wheel arch, through the filter, down to the turbo, under the engine, through the intercooler... Where would you actually squirt it in so you know it's getting into the engine?!

If it has ran out of fuel whilst driving, the chances are there's been a lot of air in the system too and starved the HP pump of lubrication especially when it 'ran out' the driver would likely stop and then do even more cranking to check what's going on.
You need to put it all back together and crank it whilst doing a live code read off the diagnostic port. I don't know what pressure it needs to fire (Doggy?) but a fuel pressure of 298bar at idle speed is healthy. Low fuel pressure will prevent the fuel from atomising properly.
The HP pump used to cost £600.00+ but I think they're much cheaper now due to salvage etc.
Don't go buying bits and bobs until it works cos you'll waste a lot of time and money, you need a professional diagnosis.
