406 indicator problem

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Greetings. A little bit more information would be handy here. Such as how old is the car? If Its a D9 multiplexed or not makes a huge difference in many ways. You could add these details to your signature as I and many others have.
But, I would be suspecting the indicator stalk.
Regards,
Richard.

Potential good news as it is probably not multiplexed. My 99 is not and the 2002 is. This makes the fix for this much cheaper and easier for you. Changing the indicator stalk is much easier on a non multiplexed one. Phone up a pug dealer and get a price for the stalk, but I would guess around £50 from memory. Then you take off the lower part of the steering wheel shroud. And the stalk is held on by a couple of screws.
The search box at the top works well to.

While I was off searching your old posts  Did Pug really sell more cars in 1999 and 2001 or is it they go wrong more? To explain, in '99 they went from non-multiplex to semi-multiplex and in 2001 they went fully multiplex. The column switches only joined in the multiplexing fun in 2001 (RPO 9001 - July 2nd) but there is a change in design you might want to be aware of in 1999 as there doesn't seem to have been a cut off date as they went from D8 to D9, more of a smear as they used up various parts and started using new ones...

I know, I saw :cheesy: It's just that sometimes among someone's first few posts they mention a bit more detail about the car & saves time. Sticking it in your sig file is a good idea because it's going to get asked a lot otherwise, particularly with electrical problems. Even better would be your car's build code (aka rpo or dam). Best of all would be just the chassis number because that says everything but I'm not 100% sure it's a safe thing to do...
