Trip computer faulty?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Trip computer faulty?

Post by leestudd30 »

Firstly I'm unsure if it has one! Its got the little screen where its supposed to be and at the moment its always showing the outside temperature. The stalk on the right of the wheel with the audio controls does have the end button that you push to change the display but the display never changes, any ideas?

If your car is GLX trim level I doubt it came with one as standard. You can retro fit it though, see here!

Seeing as the screen is there, how could I find out if it is indeed the trip computer and not just a temperature sensor? There are quite a few breakers near me so I could have a look for one!

Slide the screen out and look for a four way rotary switch on the side. If you've got this then it is a trip comp and not just a temp display!

Well I've just read the manual again and feel a bit of a twat lol. I should be pressing a button on the wiper stalk, not the audio one, doh!

Don't beat yourself up, cars with cruise have 4 stalks to get the hang of, took me ages and mine still occasionaly slows down for NO reason when you swap from CD to radio.

The COM2000, on this occasion at least, is not guilty of anything other than failing to respond the control I meant to press, as opposed to the one I actually pressed.

Having said that, I have had a few instances of 'let's index the volume all the way up', syndrome in the last few months.

Didn't work anyway lol. There is what looks like another button on the end of the wiper stalk but it doesn't move, so no trip computer for me!
