D9 semi-mux BSI & Dash problems

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Rather than just looking at them I thought the idea would be to undo, add a blob of dinitrol, waxoyl or just engine oil and do 'em up again.

I'm still wondering about 90xx myself, I have a feeling it doesn't mean anything other than the system is multiplex but, as I said, I don't know much about it. I had a quick look earlier but didn't see anything useful, or at least anything in a language I recognised

And today's word is "Manchester" :?

90-- means the group of wires which begin with 90, as in VAN stuff.

For example, if you saw 62-- you'd want to be looking for the wires in question on the central locking diagram

What does it mean when it appears on the diagram that it refers to though?

That's like buying a craft knife and needing a craft knife to open the package...

I take it you checked continuity to earth. This isn't looking pretty :(

What else doesn't work on the multiplex list?
steve_earwig wrote:Stuff on the comfort VAN:
BSI (check)
4000 : instrument panel central electronic module (check)
8220 : analogue module transponder (something to do with the immobiliser - receiver for the plip?)
8415 : compact disc player
8410 : radio
7215 : multifunction screen
8025 : air conditioning panel (if separate)
I must admit I'm getting pretty confused now, I don't think it's an earth fault, I think it's something on the mux and I have no idea what faults look like on them or how to test them.

Daft questions: does the car still have its original stereo and does the alarm work?

BSI (check)
4000 : instrument panel central electronic module (check)
8220 : analogue module transponder (something to do with the immobiliser - receiver for the plip?) (remote never worked)
8415 : compact disc player (original multi changer and radio all work fine)
8410 : radio
7215 : multifunction screen (all work exept milage left in tank)
8025 : air conditioning panel (if separate) (ac needing regassed)
yeh its starting to look bad from here to, gonna download the puka wiring diagrams for my car and will have a good check at the weekend se what i find. just when i remember when i got the car i fitted my parrot bluetooth device from my old 406 d8 and when ifitted it it killed the dash when i plugged it in just when you mention radio and stuff

How does this parrot thing work? I don't suppose there was any relationship to you trying to fit it & the car going mad :?

Still Googling, I found some stuff on BBA:

Not really what you have but it does show how a fault with one MUX unit will screw up the others. Worth pulling out the stereo to eliminate?

Note the 4th post down - I can't find anything else on the forum but.... Do you want to ask or shall I?

Any help? I didn't know about the shunt - on my (french  ) diagrams it looks like fuse 8.

Interesting about the vin too - so there is a way of telling (and there was me trying to work it out by RPOs  )
