Judging by the number of D9's I've seen in the last week with a light out, I guess I'm not the only one who might benefit.

Not bad, my local indie knocks them out at £5 each and just recently whilst working away I had to get one from Halfrauds and got stung a tenner!!
and that was an own brand.

I've just bought 2 of the 'New' Osram Nightbreakers for £15.65 via Amazon. These were £27.00 last year! so that's, like, a bargain eh? and my stupid 'projector' lenses are now able to shed some light on the road ahead (seems to me these 'plus' rated bulbs fade in performance after a bit).

I looked into various 'upgrade' bulbs a few years back. IIRC all the 'super bright' offerings have exactly the same light output, it's just concentrated into a shorter hotter-running filament with the downside that their life is much shorter than std lamps. As I drive a fair distance in the dark, it's not really going to work for me. Besides D9's seem to 'eat' the things.

welly, if you've got projectors already, just bo11ocks in some HID's, you could do it for the price of a couple of sets of Nightbreakers and assuage your conscience that your being kind to the enviroment by using less energy. (Specially if they're on all day).

Thanks for the heads up- just picked up a pair from my local Aldi on my lunch break, took me a while of standing and queing only to realise I'd picked up H4's but I got there in the end!

I know but you can bet (knowing my luck) that if there was ever an accident I'd get clobbered for having 'converted headlights' if the insurance company were having a bad day and felt like it. You can't even declare the mods either as there's no way of getting the installation 'approved/certified'.

I have found the Nightbreakers do give out more light, a whiter light which appears brighter. I notice if I follow another car on country lanes then my beam pattern is better than there's. If these bulbs don't actually give out more lumins then they are better at picking up white lines and signs etc that's for sure.

I haven't shown you my super-dooper numberplate illumination solution have I? I've managed to get some OE-looking LED's a'la BMW I'm very pleased with them as they are white not bluey.
