Putting a radio in
The Clarion tape player keeps making a loud pop noise when i go over bumps. What sort of alternative radios are available for the 406 that still allow the stalk to work, and is there any that display the station on the mfd or use the changer in the boot?

Re: Putting a radio in
I think you can fit any aftermarket stereo but you will need a lead like this first:
http://www.connects2.co.uk/c2search.asp ... &modID=577
And the appropriate patch lead depending on the make of stereo you fit, like this:
http://www.connects2.co.uk/c2search.aspx?catID=115
You will probably need a fascia adapter like this too:

Re: Putting a radio in
i don't see much dry solder on the radio, i did all the earthing solder that holds in the pcb to the frame, where is the output transistors, what do they look like?
An aftermarket radio seems to be a lot of work, if i could keep the thing standard that would be fantastic.

There was a thread once but I'm pretty sure it got deleted. They'll be heavily screwed to the casing with heat paste.FarmerPug wrote:i don't see much dry solder on the radio, i did all the earthing solder that holds in the pcb to the frame, where is the output transistors, what do they look like?

Re: Putting a radio in
blaupunkt radios are really good they are what mercs have i kept one out of my old merc a good solid radio but it is a bit too old with its casette player
i put an aftermarket radio into my fiat which came with the standard radio but that was broke, the one that went in was a waferdale bluetooth job which was good it had a full keypad for dialing, streamed music and the display was a dot matrix so it could display the track playing.
ill get a look at the clarion tonight for these transistors

Personal experience - Bluespot=overpriced junk. Mercs fit Becker, or at east they used to.

Re: Putting a radio in
The reason why imentioned blaupunkt,
is only because, its the only one ive found that works the stalk,
Quality??
its bland but does its job,
the Digicalva, has built in sat nav, if you can pick one up thats what id go for,
been looking for one for a few month now not many come up on ebay,
the sat nav disc for them is £150
