Mine used to do that and you'd jump out of your skin when it happened

Think it only affects cars with the JBL amp but it is related to the PCB/connections coming out the back of the head unit. Never did sort mine out

there is some fairly amazing stuff on ebay for £150 its possible to get a tv,mp3,bluetooth,reversing camera,sat nav, type radio although most are double din and i bet the OS they use is prone to freezing like the waferdale i had. but for the specs they are tempting.
it would be good if apple made a double din ipadish style car radio

i see pioneer do an "app radio" which seems to be the closest thing to an iphone radio, a bit pricey though.

them ebay chinese ones are very temting if i still had the fiat a double din radio fits in them could have had one of them

Have you noticed alot of radios seem to be phazed out of having a cd/dvd slot,

Memmory card slots instead,

iwonder if cds are going to end up like Tapes,

thats a nice discreet looking radio would suit the 406 nicely

cds are a bit pointless if i ever get one i rip it onto itunes then put it on the phone, there isnt actually a cd player in our house except for the laptops

I'd have to put my eyeglass in.... Didn't I read recently that these things will work without coding to the BSI? Something about an annoying bleep? What I would have done is connect up a couple of speakers (it's low output but it should be enough), powered it up like that and tapped it with something made out of plastic.

that beep they make is anoying,
ithink if anyone did theive one theyd fling it out the window very swiftly,

wouidnt mind finding out how to by pass the vin coding thing tho,

it powers up without bsi coding just does the beep, with the pp2000 you can just enter the vin to unlock it, is connecting up the speakers to test the cause of the pop noise, i have no spare speakers at the moment but i did manage to do a form of that test, when i had the radio out of the slot but still plugged in i hit it with a bic pen and it reproduced the pop.

I've never tried the unlock thing lozz, but if i have the pp2000 in ill try to delete the characters in the vin bit it might actually unlock the radio, its a good security system but i don't really think peugeot had to do it, the shape of the radio makes it useless in anything but a 406, and you need a display to be able to see what station is playing.

About the soldering, here is the earthing things i resoldered:





what do you think is wrong here, the soldering i do never is as shiny as the original soldering, is something missing?

the + van is that the stalk control out put or the screen info?

Looks like you've loaded them up a bit there, the third one I can't see if you've covered it with solder or the flux got in the way. You should add as little as possible, clean the tip of your iron up with a damp cloth and use it to reduce the blobs. Beware cooking it (although if they're earths they should be taking a fair bit of the heat away to the chassis)

I'm using antex lead free solder sn99.25 cu0.75 diameter 0.8mm.
Ive never used flux, but i thought this sort doesn't need any.

Should i still resolver the output transistors, i don't know where they are, i see what looks like transistors dotted about the circuit board but I'm not sure if they are the right ones.

I would look for the biggest transistor or chip screwed to the chassis. It might not have one - it has an amp after all.

So it's not even flux cored? That must be a shadow then.
