what if i pumped the inside with silicone round the area, would that act as a shock absorber to stop the noise?

Philips stuff is good but they don't seem to sell many car radios these days.
Did you buy another 406?

I still am getting that noise when i plugged the radio back in, ill put in the cd changer and live with the volume issue until an executive radio pops up on ebay, they don't seem to be in as high demand as type c displays.

a picasso with a v6
although a picasso with a hdi sounds ok, if the picasso getting the engine was a hdi originally it shouldn't be a problem, if its your petrol picasso then the electrics might be tricky.

What is access round the engine like on a picasso, I've seen renault scenics engine bays, you need arms made of spaghetti to be able to work round them.

V6 pic that wouid be scarey ithink,

There loads of room under the bonnet of the pics,
the battery lives under the passenger seat that makes alot of room on that side,

im not a fan of the Renault scenics, theyre full of Gremlins the pic is alot more reliable,
they look ugly but theyre abig comfy car, and the back seats just clip out so its a good van,

only downfall with them is the daft idea of the Gear lever,

i don't think they are ugly, sure they are no match for an alfa 159 in terms of looks but for an mpv they look quite nice, better than the zafira.
Is the gearstick not handy, it was good having a high gearstick in the panda, meant it was easy to reach.

Ha :cheesy: a spoon in a pot of jam, it just doesnt sound precise. (Good metaphor though)
The clio gear change felt like that, only the pot of jam kicked the spoon up and down.

Its them cable connections to the gearbox instead of rods, i wonder can they be changed to rods to improve the precision, though perhaps if the gate had a better clicking mechanism to keep the gear change tighter then they could get away with using cables.

Eh, thats the gear lever, not much to them when the fancy knob and gater is taken away.

about the 406 radio, what part of the wiring on the back sends information to the display, can any after market radio still send info about whats going on to the display?
