sh*t dude, you've been away for 6 months so I hope your all fixed now. Care to share?

I'm still tempted but I just can't justify it, it looks like my days of 406 ownership might be drawing to a close anyway

Mrs Earwig is roping Mr Earwig into buying a 4x4 because she thinks the 406 is "too big" for her to drive.

It's not quite like that - it's a question of visibility and knowing where your car ends and the rest of the world begins. My wife would quite happily spend the rest of her life being chauffeured around but my recent back issues have shown this isn't always a good option and there's been a few times when I've had to drive her despite being in agony because there were no friends, neighbours or relatives available. It doesn't help the 406 being such a low car either, for about a week I found it physically impossible to get in the car, let alone drive it. So bugger it, if that's what it takes to get her driving then I have to give it a shot.

So we don't clog up Swampy's thread any more I've posted all this over in the "today I have mostly been" thread here viewtopic.php?f=5&t=15963&hilit=+hammer ... 95#p160995

a nice man decided he wanted to turn across in front of me at the last minute, eneded up with a written off coupe and an agravation of a previous bad back!!

insurance paid out a nice sum for the car (more than i paid for it) ade bingham had all the parts i required to repair the damage and in the correct colour so most of the repair was easy!!

some inner panel damage needed adjustment with a hammer and dollies, slide hammer etc all hampered by the back, but slowly it got there, i have some pictures so will post them up in due course.

The bastard  At least you got a result on the insurance but I reckon I'd have left fixing it in favour of giving my back a chance to recover...
