2 broken arms & legs apparently, but at least he survived.

I've posted on the RAV 4 forums asking a lot of questions but they didn't get over the prices yet  No, I don't want your car: I'd have to scrap it...

And then I see things like this http://www.njuskalo.hr/auti/toyota-rav4 ... as-3862749 and wonder why the f&ck I'm bothering :(

I had a delivery earlier for my sis-in-law, I spotted a City Express van sitting outside so I asked the guy how his colleague was - two broken legs, one broken arm (papers making stuff up again  ) but he'll be fine. I'm glad about that, that was the first proper pile-up I ever saw and nobody died.

Hello?...ello?...llo?...lo?...o?...?

So, the sillyness continues.

My original plan was to get an old Vitara, spares are fairly cheap (relatively...) and they're fairly well know - just look for the arse falling out of it, check all the gears work and the engine's not had it, right? But oh no, everyone has to stick their collective paddle in - On the one hand I have the wife who wants something small with a high driving seat & loads of viability but it must be cheap and on the other I have my family telling me to buy something modern so it's safer  I'm looking at mid-2000s and coming up with, and let's be honest about this, a pile of expensive shite. Scruffy high miler petrol RAVs for good quality diesel money. As 4x4s go here they're the cheap ones, unless I go for something made in Korea which have a cheap initial purchase price offset by ridiculously expensive spares. I've even looked at Suzuki SX-4s (even though they're Fiat Sedicis in disguise) and the prices of parts are just mental (a set of pads cost 4x the Pug's). My wife spotted a Suzuki Jimny in the carpark, which to me looks like they've removed a foot from the middle of a Vitara - even if I took the back seats out the Pug still would have more space with the seats in place!! And they're just as expensive as the RAVs!!

This is the cheapest for sale right now: http://www.njuskalo.hr/auti/suzuki-jimn ... as-2819272

And I was thinking that, ok, maybe I'll need to sell my Pug to justify having one of these monstrosities but now I'm told I'd be lucky to get 7k€ for it. But it's got leather!! So? It's not a BWM

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I'd rather set myself on fire than sell/part-ex my car for one of these. Sorry Vitara owners. RAV4's aren't too bad.

Steve, put a cushion on your 406's driver's seat and raise it up, and get her to drive it (wearing platform shoes if she can't reach the pedals from up there) so she gets the "elevated driving position".

The UK one needs 'Cro-ating' at huge expense I suppose.

My neighbore had a 2004 ML and it started getting tin-worm in the seams, Mercedes agreed for a full prep and re-spray (which was done) but it never really looked too hot after that :frown:

I also followed an ML once down a country lane and it was pitching and wallowing about so much I gave it some distance in front to stay clear, it looked very weird, something badly wrong with it.

I dunno what you'll end up with mate, I bet your pissed off with it all already :|

It's worse than that - at over 7 years old it's too old to import so it's basically spare parts. And you'd need to keep that quiet in case the tax man asks where the parts came from...

Do I really need to say anything?

Ok, first up the white one: My mate took it out for a thrash and it drives very well. The respray, well, only the left side and my mate said he could never be drunk enough to spray that badly. 5 ancient tyres, rear diff seems to be blowing oil out of the breather (?) but then my mate spotted this:
Image
which looks fairly body off chassis to me, I've been searching on 4x4 forums but I can't find anything about it, which is odd because it looks like something that will always do this. We didn't get any further than that, I was expecting a little tin worm but my mate (who keeps telling me not to expect too much from old cars) decided it was time to run away screaming.

Next up was the blue with the silly stripes on the bonnet. Good bodywork (my mate couldn't see any rust anyway) but mechanically completely shagged - rattly engine, grinding transmission and body going everywhere due to shagged shocks - I was crammed in the back as my mate drove & it felt like I wasn't having much to do with the road. He also reckoned my wife wouldn't cope with its lack of power steering

I've emailed my mate a couple more but I'll understand if he says they're too far away:
http://www.njuskalo.hr/auti/suzuki-vita ... as-3987313
http://www.njuskalo.hr/auti/suzuki-vita ... as-3987952
Oh yes, it's a diesel. It's too bluddy cheap though...

I've also sent him this:
http://www.njuskalo.hr/auti/mitsubishi- ... as-2904976
I do not know if this is interesting car with lots of toys or perhaps has spent its life driving over big rocks with the engine screaming and they are selling it instead of rebuilding everything. It appears from the pictures they drove it off road with plastic bodywork removed and childish camouflage paintwork... No reserve tyre? Perhaps they left it on a mountain somewhere.

But I reckon the sensible thing would be to not even bother looking at it.

Further to the pile up, my mate says that now they've investigated and have discovered 21 of the cars were wearing summer tyres and the insurance companies are refusing to pay out. I can't help thinking this is damn right as their stupidity nearly cost the City Ex driver his life.
