Cambelt change: HDI 110 2.0

Post by pgascoyne »

Hi Guys,
Just looking for some advice into changing a cam-belt for a W plate HDi 110 2.0 Saloon model.
I've currently got about 65K miles on my existing belt.
I've sourced a few places including eBay for kits including the pulleys and belt (some including water pump as well).
Any particular kits to go for?
According to the Haynes manual it mentions about requiring a specialist tool for measuring the tension of the belt once replaced.
If you don't have access to such a tool how did you go about getting the correct or approximately correct tension?
Is this the only stumbling aspect I need to worry about or are there any other issues I need to be aware of?
It's a shame there's isn't a KBA for it. (Knowledge Base Article)
Any thoughts or ideas much appreciated.

There is a how-to in the knowledge base.....it's for the 90hp but still the same......

There is a good way of tensioning the belt in the how-to that I supplied :D

I use Gates belt kits.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I will digest that how to info and hopefully get it done as soon as possible providing the weather accommodates.
