For sale Ford Taunus 1.6 Estate, ONE OWNER FROM NEW, motor OHC 53 kw/72 bhp, 105.000 km, 1978, first registered 07/03/1979, last registration ran out 12/12/2004. Garaged from day 1 and never damaged. 11 years ago, in 2000, there was a small repair to the bodywork and the whole car repainted. 6 months ago all the brakes were replaced. Car is in the peak of condition, 100% original and and ready for registration.

A real gem there, the taunus is it correct that that is a european cortina?

Errrr well yeah,looks like a mk 4 Cortina to me. I thought it might have a V4 Essex in it as they seem to have held on to them a bit longer here but it's a Pinto.

i'll try a grab a pic of this guy running around where i live with a black montego turbo. its got a bodykit (if u can call it that), one thing that is strange i never seem to see if their's any rust on it cause i know the 3 M's back then had a serious problem wi the stuff.

yeh theres a Maestro gt in this car club im in with a body kit but its all original and a nice dark green ill try get a pic up and therea a old mk4 cortina and a Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evolution (nice car)

And that's an even older Taunus, there's still some like that over here but they never made it to the UK. Thinking about it, it might not even be a Taunus (but I can't be bothered to look it up right now )

That's the way to go, but to get a real gem of a Mk2 Granny, you need the injection (with the front spoiler still attached). For real rarity though, get the injection sport with the Recaros & manual gearbox.

No mate it was the other way round
princess was better than the Austin agro to start with, that was when petrol was cheap,
as things got dearer the smaller cars got more popular, such as the Agro that got binned to make way for the austin Metro

But why is there few princesses left, not all had the big 2.2 (it seems unusual to have a straight six in a transverse layout as opposed to a v6),
but yet there is quite a few allegros, which i have to say are a horrible looking thing.
Were the princesses a good car in their time?

They where good back in the late 70s as far as ican rember.
big comfy car but thirsty,

the austin agro wasnt to bad of a car they was cheap to run,
the 1st car ihad on the road was the allegro ended up trading it in for a peugeot 104 ithink it was
horrible car that was,

It does sound like a recipe for a thirsty car, my dad never had a princess, but he did have an allegro, apparently it quickly munched wheel bearings, and the suspension would not move on a frosty day.
The 104, I've never seen one at all for sale, only on wikipedia, they must have been rusty like the old renault 14, though why did you not ilke your 104?
