I have read ALL the electrical problem questions going back to last year and I am now asking the impossible.
I have about 8/10 different answers from the Forum, I'd like to knock it back to about 4, with your help.
The problem with my 2000 D9 Estate is twofold, 1 serious and 1not so much.
The airbag light is on now, despite all the help I had before, any tricks available?
More important is the "BRAKE FLUID LOW/Handbrake on" message which flashes alternately accompanied by a pinging noise from the dash. It cannot be ignored!!
A dealer is coming to collect the car on Wednesday next week and even though he has offered only £200 for the car, he won't take it like that.Any thoughts Please?

that wouid be a faulty handbrake switch ithink,
easy to fix, either replace switch or disconect it
airbag light might be bad conections, a plug in with a laptop might be needed to reset the light
ive been looking for a code reader with this function but to no avail, so it looks like pp200 is the only thing that will reset them

I get a regular Airbag Fault, which I've finally traced. On my car, it's the 2-pin connector under the passenger seat for the pre-tensioner. Unplugging & plugging it back in cured it for several months, then a pattern emerged:
Everytime Mrs Doggy got in, the Dogmobile announced, 'Airbag Fault'. I observed this was an amazing coincidence and maybe if she kept quiet.......
In reality, she insists on having the seat at maximum height, both front & back & this strains the wiring to the said connector. I could now fix it, but prefer to point to the MFD & say shhhhhh!

Stetched and stressed connectors under seats causing air bag lights is a very common problem on many makes and models of car, I usually just disconnect the battery, give everything a good clean and it clears the lights.
If things are particularly tight under there you could always chop the wires and add a couple of extra inches on wiring, just make sure the battery is disconnected or you might get a bit of a shock if the bag goes off !!!

he's taking the piss complaining about this and will likely try and offer even less when it comes to it. Bejesus, you could sell it in the local rag for £450.00 all day long, especially an estate - unless it's knackered?

No, just reseat the connectors. If you've cleared the fault, the light will go out next time you start the engine.lozz wrote:Doggy

If it's on as a result of an airbag ecu problem, you may need to reset with PP2000, but the above is far, far more common.

reason iasked is because the airbag is flashing in my car,
theres two lights ones for the pre-tensioners and other air bag dont know why theres two but ones flashing constantly dosent stay on solid,
ithought it wouid of needed reset by computer,

£200, thats not much, a stripped out saloon is worth more than that in scrap value.
as for the airbag light, the pp2000 will tell you whats causing it but if it is the plug under the seat and you reset it, it goes out and comes back on again until its fixed.
