Re: 406 OF THE CENTURTY
HI cant believe it ,
went to pick the wife up from work last night, parked the 406 .
when she came out it would not start !!!!!!
called rac waited for 3 hrs for them to arrive and then he said its the imobiliser cant fix them.
I told him the panel was sometimes flashing so he took it too bits and found 2 broken wires (damned imobiliser).
Good news is its fixed and up and running as good as new again now.
I might stick it in auto mode to save messing with the code each time i get in the car.
That is the only gripe on the car so far .
Problem is if it gets nicked i may not have ins for turning off the imobiliser what do you think ????

you can get alarm /imob kits off ebay fairly cheap just add something like that for your own peace of mind
or just go with the old skool method add a cut out switch somewhere no one wouid think of looking

Re: 406 OF THE CENTURTY
'auto' mode is still immobilised - it just uses a code stored with the key instead of one you enter on the keypad
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
