new car and problems already

Post by Cruiser406 »

Firstly i wanna say hi to you all and you have a great website.
bit of a long one lol
I bought a 406 exec turbo last night and the guy said theres a rattle because he put a new exhaust on for the mot the day before and the clamp is loose, i had no reason not to believe him plus it was pi**in down and dark but i took it to kwik fit today and they had a look and said the exhaust is mint and its not that, it must be the engine, probably the bottom end and sure enough when i lifted the bonnet it sounded like it.
it seems to boost ok as its quite fast it just rattles like a dremel between 2200and 2400rpm whether in gear or neutral
does this sound like a turbo problem as ive never had a turbo'd car before.
any help or suggestions is much appreciated, thanks in advance guys
im not as think as you confused i am!

have a look at the top engine mounting, as you stand under the bonnet at the front of the car, its about half way up on the left, the bush inside the mounting breaks up and causes the symptoms you have

you need to get a complete new mounting from peugeot, you can renew the rubber sepperatley, but you need a bench press to remove it so its easier to change the whole thing
