The drive of my life

Post by Captain Jack »

Welp, I don't know what's better... to drive a 406 or be driven in one. Since I am now left with 1 working hand for the next 6-10 weeks, I get my parents to drive me places (mainly the hospital!). Yesterday they drove me in my '6 and it was superb! The ride in the back seat (no jokes please you dirty sods) is soooo smooth and when my dad accelerated it actually felt fast and refined. The leather seats help a lot though and my mum even commented on how good my sound system sounded (Alpine HU, Focals driven by Kenwood amp)! And she's not the one to notice these things.

I was pondering about buying a new car (the 406 coupe) but now I am thinking... what for?? I have the best car in the world!! :) May it boldly go another 114k miles...!

A happy owner.

Were you still under aneasthetic?

Father's normally find something negative to say about your car like in no way can you ever have a better car than them.

My Father, upon plonking himself in my passenger seat (as if it was awkward to get into) then slamming the fecking door like a builders van, commented on how he was surprised that my car had an external temperature guage fitted, especially on a car 'this old' he also commented that the climate control and electric seats would give it 'more to go wrong'

Good luck with the hand, I hope your not abusing this by having an extremely long time off work all over xmas

I only have a week off work... I think... Not until at least the stitches are out.

My dad's car is a 106 1.5L diesel. It's SLOW. There's no way he can say anything bad about my car. He mentioned that the handbrake wasn't working well, but I'll agree with him there but other than that he seemed to exit the car with a smile on his face!

I bought a brand new 106 K reg Diesel 1.4  back in 1993, I took it back after 3 months and got a 405 G reg 1.9 GR because the little 106, although it did 63 MPG, was really boring. The 405 went like a rocket :cheesy:

You require the arms of a Gorilla to apply even the slightest of friction to the braking surfaces of my handbrake on the 406, they are well known for it.

This worries me as on sunday my Parents came for a visit and on leaving my Dad (as he walked passed the 406) pretended to KEY it muttering that'll teach you to have a better car than mine. Now hes decided to change his car and wants me to service and replace the Cam cover seal before getting shut of his R reg VECTRA. I have access to a pit at work so have agreed to do this. Now i want to do it early on Saturday but he cant get up early (hes retired dont you know) so his plan is to leave me with the VECTRA on friday night and take MY 406 home with him. The question is will i ever get my 406 back.

Hope the hands up to full shuffle speed real soon Captain
Bloody hell cars aint that bad
